Project 3 Faces
Project 3 Faces
The goal of this project is to portray three different faces that a human exhibits: the public face, the friendly face, and the private face, with me acting as the subject for each of these faces. This project blends mandalas and kanji to create enso mandalas that narrate the structure of each face through symbols and kanji writing.
The relevance lies in the idea of being able to express emotions, concepts, and more through calligraphy and abstract symbolic shapes, creating something that can be appreciated on two levels. On one level, artists may try to interpret what the creator might have been trying to express through these symbolic formations. On the other, non‑artistic individuals can translate the kanji to gain a clearer understanding of what is being expressed.
